Handy tips

We’ve added a list of handy tips which may help in emergency situations & also some day-to-day tips we could all use!

• It is always a good idea to know the location of the main water shut off valve in your home in case of a plumbing emergency. This will be very helpful as a broken pipe can cause water to flow into your home.

• In the event of waste landing in your kitchen sink, you will want to make sure that you are running cold water to ensure that the waste moves all the way through the drain lines. Fats and grease will harden in cold water and can then be flushed through the system more easily.

• Ever wondered how to get rid of those mineral deposits on your shower head? Look no further! Measure out one cup of vinegar and pour it into a plastic bag. Place the plastic bag with the vinegar over the shower head. Use a twist tie or elastic band to secure it to the shower head and let it stand over night. When you get up in the morning, remove the plastic bag from the shower head and wipe with a damp cloth. The mineral deposits will have disappeared!

• Repairing leaky taps promptly is of extreme importance. Leaky taps can waste hundreds of litres of water in a very short amount of time.
